Abstract

В статье рассматривается творчество ровесника Джонатана Свифта – английского ученого, философа-моралиста и писателя-памфлетиста Джона Арбетнота. Вместе со Свифтом, Александром Поупом и Джоном Гэем Арбетнот был активным членом творческого объединения под названием «Клуб Мартина Скриблеруса», которое возникло в 1711 г. в противовес оппозиционным клубам парламентских депутатов в Англии.
