- The modern world develops at an incredible speed. The old is being replaced with new, better and more optimal one. The article examines digitalization which is a new trend in the formation of the bases of various social life’s spheres, which has its own characteristics, advantages and weaknesses. Most of all, it affects the economy. Digitalization can both improve the efficiency of economic activity and cause se-rious, large-scale threats and risks that can have a huge, significant impact on the structure of the economy. Understanding the consequences of the introduction of information technologies as new models of production methods is essential. This article is devoted to the study of the role of digitalization in the development of the economy and its direct impact within the Russian Federation.
