- Work direction:
- Глава 7
- Abstract:
- Family relationships play a key role in the development of the individual and society, forming basic values and norms of behavior. Currently, there is a shift in cultural traditions, which qualitatively affects the usual models of family relationships. The problem of the study is expressed in the analysis of the influence of the cultural context on family relationships and the family roles performed. The purpose of the study is to determine the psychological characteristics of family relationships and roles in different cultural contexts. The study involved 126 respondents, including 60 representatives of Uzbek nationality (30 women and 30 men) and 66 Russians (33 women and 33 men). The following diagnostic material is used: «Role Expectations of Partners» (REP); PARI «Parental Attitudes Questionnaire»; «Measuring Attitudes in a Married Couple»; 4. Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ). To identify differences between the groups, the Mann-Whitney U-criteriom and Spearman's rank correlation were used. According to the study, in Uzbek culture, special attention is paid to traditional values, religious beliefs, and social norms that influence family roles. A comparative analysis with Russian culture revealed differences in approaches to role differentiation and expectations from family members. A study of parental attitudes in Uzbek and Russian families revealed pronounced cultural differences in approaches to upbringing. Uzbek parents are characterized by more traditional and strict methods, with an emphasis on authority and limited discussions of sexual topics with children. In Russian families, there is a desire for partnership with children, active emotional interaction and limitation of the impact of external factors. The study deepens the understanding of the specifics of cultural influence on family relationships and the roles of spouses. The results can be used in the formation of family education programs considering the cultural context.

Maria Montessori's psychological and pedagogical concept
Book ChapterPsychological and pedagogical issues of modern education- Author:
- Aleksandr I. Kugai
- Work direction:
- Глава 9
- Abstract:
- The chapter reveals the main provisions of the psychological and pedagogical concept of the world-famous teacher Maria Montessori. The core of her method was feelings. Therefore, she criticized traditional educational practice for starting with ideas and intellect. «Often a scientist who has grasped an idea encounters great difficulties in doing the work we give him, because we have omitted from his education a factor of primary importance, namely, the cultivation of feelings." The mental development of a child occurs spontaneously. Education is not something that a teacher gives. It is a natural and spontaneous process carried out by the child himself. The essence of the Montessori method is what is now called innovative education – the creation of an environment in which children could learn and grow independently of adults, be free to do things on their own and learn at their own pace. In a Montessori classroom, the learning process is controlled not by the interpersonal relationship between a teacher and a child, but by didactic materials. Each element of this equipment was assessed on a pragmatic basis: does the child's competence grow from contact with the material. No tricks were used to attract the child's attention. The didactic materials were designed to be initially interesting and in such a way that the child could correct himself without the help of the teacher.

Epic features of the creation of the world in the heroic epic of the Mari people "Yugorno. The Song of the Prophetic Path"
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 6 No 4- Author:
- Galina E. Shkalina
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The article is devoted to the study of cosmogonic narratives of the Mari people. The goal: to identify the epic features of the creation of the world in the heroic Mari epic "Yugorno. Song of the Prophetic Path" against the background of epic works known in the global context. The materials are both the poetic creation of A. Ya. Spiridonov "Yugorno. Song of the Prophetic Path" and the author's field materials on the multi-level system of concepts reflecting the natural, cultural, social and virtual realities of the past, present and future in the worldview of the Mari people. The work is based on the hermeneutic-phenomenological approach to the study of epic texts using problematic and historical-comparativistic methods. Conclusion: widely popular ideas of people about the world order are reflected in the folk heroic epic as an immanent contradiction between two opposite principles present in the very essence of being (top-bottom, right-left, white-black, etc.). In the Mari poetic creation "Yugorno" the epic features of the creation of the world were expressed not in the harsh antagonism of the hero and the antihero, but in the peaceful competition between the gods-creators of different parts of the Universe, understood by people as good and evil due to the objective duality of the world.

Professiographic monitoring as a technology for assessing the dynamics of the formation of the motivational component of the professional competence of maritime university cadets
Research ArticleDevelopment of education Volume 7 No 3- Author:
- Kirill A. Novoselov
- Work direction:
- Pedagogy and Modern Education
- Abstract:
- The study focuses on the investigation of the process of forming the motivational aspect of the professional competency of cadets at a maritime university in a blended learning environment. Given the digitalization of higher education and the specific requirements of the maritime industry, there is a need to provide a solution in response to the demands of ship owners. Employers seek to employ motivated young professionals who are not only skilled in their field but also possess a drive for professional growth. The aim of professional training is to develop competencies, while the motivational element remains unaddressed. It is essential to develop techniques that facilitate the development of this aspect. Professiographic monitoring represents a relatively underexplored technique. The objective of this study is to devise and validate the feasibility of utilizing this approach within a maritime university context. The model for the development of the motivational aspect of professional competence has been created and tested. This model defines the role and components of professiographic monitoring. Its functions have been proposed and criteria for assessing the level of motivation in professional competence have been defined. The results of the study demonstrated positive trends in the development of motivation among cadets, indicating a positive impact on their professional competence.

- Abstract:
- In this paper, we want to present in English the results of our research, which was previously published in Russian, to a wider range of readers, teachers, scientists. The study is devoted to a tool used in the formation of the motivational component of cadets of a maritime university, which has a great importance on the formation of their professional competence, especially when professional training is conducted in a blended format. In the model developed by us for the formation of the motivational component of the professional competence of cadets of a maritime university in a blended learning environment, professiographic monitoring is used as an assessment and diagnostic tool, which is little studied at present. With the help of it, it becomes possible not only to dynamically quantify the level of the motivational component, but also to adjust the educational process.

In these (end) times: Sh. Idiatullin's Volgaic fantasy fiction
Review ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 4- Authors:
- Maria S. Savelyeva, Alexander V. Savelyev
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The paper discusses the development of ethnic fiction in the modern Russian literature, focusing on Shamil Idiatullin's 2020 novel “Poslednee vremja”. We show that the tendency towards switching from ethnic to regionalist agenda can be observed in the works by both Russian authors, such as Denis Osokin and Alexei Ivanov, and authors having a non-Russian ethnic identity, such as the Tatar novelists Guzel Yakhina and Shamil Idiatullin. We adopt an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together techniques from literary studies (analysis of the genre and the literary situation as well as the historical and cultural context) and linguistics (an etymological analysis of proper names, in the first place). Our commentary on various linguistic, historical and cultural aspects puts Idiatullin»s novel into the discourse of the contemporary ethnic fiction as a text that expresses the positions of both the Conquerors and the Conquered. The analysis of personal names and other words of non-Russian origin that are used in the Russian text allows to identify the fictional ethnic groups with the actual peoples of the Volga-Kama region and places the novel within a present-day context. One of the key themes of “Poslednee vremja” is language loss, and some scenes, such as the self-immolation of the pagan priest Arβuj-Kuγə̑za, make a clear reference to the contemporary history of the region. The novel»s title can be translated as both “End times” and “These times”; thus, it includes simultaneously an apocalyptic allusion and a hint to the events of the recent past.

“The song helps us to build and to live”: the role and functions of the ethnic song in Moscow Chuvash and Mari diasporic groups
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 4- Author:
- Marina V. Kutsaeva
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The paper studies the role and functions of songs in an ethnic language in the life of representatives of the internal diaspora. The article is based on the results of sociolinguistic surveys conducted in Chuvash and Mari diasporas of the Moscow region in 2014–2017 and 2019–2021, respectively. The researcher employed the following sociolinguistic methods: direct observation, participant observation, structured interviews of respondents, documentary recording of responses, statistical data analysis. One of the blocks in the sociolinguistic questionnaire included such aspects as the language – in – culture and ethnic culture maintenance in the context of the vitality of ethnic language. Ethnic culture, along with the ethnic language, is one of the key markers of ethnic identity in both samples. As the results of the survey demonstrate, songs in Mari or Chuvash occupy a significant place in the respondents’ life. Several functions of the ethnic song were identified: adaptation to new living conditions; co-optation of new members (i. e., through cultural ethnic events); creative self-realization; language learning (i. e., ethnic songs used for educational purposes in language courses); initiation into language and culture for new speakers of Chuvash and Mari. The role of ethnic song in the revitalization of the language has been equally determined.

«In Dreams the Soul Travels Everywhere, and Sometimes Back to Our Small Native Land»: the Language of Dreams of Representatives of the Chuvash and Mari Diasporas of the Moscow Region
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 4 No 4- Author:
- Marina V. Kutsaeva
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The article deals with one of the most interesting and fairly unstudied functions of the ethnic language in the conditions of the internal diaspora – the language of dreams. Based on the data of her own field research, the author’s goal is to identify the topics and situations in which the representatives fix their dreams in their ethnic languages. In the present article the author uses the data obtained as a result of the sociolinguistic surveys conducted in two diasporas of the Moscow region: the Chuvash diaspora (the sample was 100 people) in 2014–2017, and in the Mari diaspora (the sample included 106 people) in 2019–2021. Both surveys were devoted to identifying and describing the functioning of the ethnic language, its interaction with the Russian language in the context of the multilingual and multicultural space of the Moscow region. The results, obtained in the surveys, reveal that 27% of respondents in the Chuvash sample and 49% in the Mari in the first generation have dreams in their respective ethnic languages. These dreams are closely correlated, according to the respondents, fluent speakers, with the subject of dreams and are associated with relatives and friends in their small homeland (often with deceased ancestors), with a certain place or event in the small homeland. In addition, dreams in «their» language also come in emotionally loaded situations, for example, in a state of stress. Respondents with a poor command of an ethnic language (natives of urban settings, as well as the majority of second-generation representatives in the sample) practically do not record dreams in their ethnic language. The author concludes that this particular function is deeply connected with some other functions, such as a communicative or a sacred one in addition, it reflects certain linguistic ideologies that are discretely dominant in these linguistic communities.

Moscow Mari: Ethnic Culture in the Internal Diaspora
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 3 No 4- Author:
- Marina V. Kutsaeva
- Work direction:
- Special Theme of the Issue: Languages and Culture of Finno-Ugric people
- Abstract:
- The article deals with the problem of maintaining and preserving Mari ethnic culture in the conditions of an internal diaspora. The purpose of the article is to identify the conditions for maintaining and to determine the prospects for preserving Moscow Maris’ ethnic culture in Moscow’s multicultural urban space. Methods. In 2019–2021, the author of the article conducted a sociolinguistic survey in the Mari diaspora of the Moscow region; the selective sample includes 106 respondents (100 respondents belong to the first generation of the Mari diaspora, six to the second). One of the aspects of the survey was to study markers of ethnic identity in two generations of the diaspora. Results. The results, obtained in the interviews, reveal that Mari culture (knowledge and observance of Mari traditions and customs) is one of the key markers of ethnic identity in the first generation (coming only third after the small homeland and the Mari language markers). Respondents in the second generation demonstrate remnant knowledge of ethnic cultural practices due to a weak intergenerational transmission of the Mari language. The author concludes that in order to preserve ethnic traditions and customs in the diaspora, it is extremely important to maintain an ethnic language; at the same time, as the world practice of revitalizing minority languages shows, ethnic culture can be viewed as a source of initiation into an ethnic language, and later become a channel for its maintenance.

Persons in Linguistics of the Ural-Volga Region: Halil Açıköz
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 3 No 3- Author:
- Fyaridya I. Tagirova
- Work direction:
- Languages of the Nations of the World
- Abstract:
- The work is devoted to the description of the life of the Turkish linguist H. Çıkgöz. For the first time in the history of Turkish science his scientific interests were directed to the Finno-Ugric peoples of the Ural-Volga region of Russia – the Mari and Udmurts. Methods. The work is written in the genre of an essay, many episodes of which are due to the author’s memories of the scientist. Results. The presented material can be used in the compilation of bio-bibliographic indexes and databases in the field of the study of the Turkic and Finno-Ugric languages of the Ural-Volga region. Discussion. As a scientist H. Açıkgöz had a wide range of scientific interests and systemic knowledge in various fields: in the field of modern linguistics and written monuments, medieval classical poetry and art in general. In Turkey he was a lecturer at Istanbul University, known as a philologist in his true sense. In Tatarstan he was known as a Türkologist, but few had any idea of the true scope of his scientific interests. In Mari El and Udmurtia they did not have time to recognize him, with the exception of a narrow circle of scientists. This work is useful in that it sheds light on his activities in the field of Finno-Ugric studies, which still remain in the shadows. A wide circle of scholars, both in Russia and abroad, still do not know that H. Açıkgöz was engaged in theoretical and practical study of the Finno-Ugric languages, compilation of the Mari-Turkish dictionary and translation of the dictionary of Tatar and Bashkir borrowings in the Mari language of N.I. Isanbaev.

- Reviews and Peer-Reviews
- Abstract:
- The article provides an overview of reviews of the «Dictionary of the Chuvash language» by N.I. Ashmarin, published in foreign scientific journals. The thesaurus became available to a wide circle of Western linguists after its release in 1968 in the form of a photolithographic edition with a foreword by G. Durfer at the Indiana University in the USA. The research material was reviewed by J. Benzing, G. Dörfer, B. Scherner, M.J. Dresden, K.G. Menges and W. Brands. Many of these documents are kept in the scientific archive of the Chuvash State Institute of the Humanities. The work is written in a scientific vein. The purpose of this work is to introduce into the scientific use of Russian Chuvash studies reviews of N.I. Ashmarin. The thesaurus of the Chuvash language of the outstanding scientist received positive reviews from many foreign colleagues with a worldwide reputation. This work for them became the best source of information about the Chuvash language. For the development of Ashmarin studies, it is important to publish documents, including reviews, one way or another related to the scientist. In this regard, reviews are important documents that contribute to an objective assessment of the results of the scientific activity of the researcher.

Chuvash Chăshtăr-Chashtăr vs. Mari Chyshtyr-Choshtyr
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 3 No 1- Author:
- Valentina Y. Kirillova
- Work direction:
- Special Theme of the Issue: Research of Chuvash Language and Culture of Chuvashia
- Abstract:
- This work is devoted to the study of onomatopoeic paired words of the languages of the central zone of the Volga-Kama language union – Chuvash and Mari. These languages belong to different families (Altai and Uralic), however, for many centuries they have been in close relations, as a result of which they were subjected to significant contamination. The purpose of this work is to establish general and particular parameters of paired words in the languages being compared. The material for the study was the Chuvash and Mari onomatopoeic words, phonetically close to each other. The conclusions of the work are based on the methods of comparative linguistics. On the basis of academic dictionaries, the author establishes a common layer of onomatopoeic paired words of the Chuvash and Mari languages. Studies have shown that, in a derivatological sense, paired words in both languages are built on the basis of the same model and represent onomatopoeia with an incomplete divergent reduplicative component in the final part of the word. At the same time, pairs practically do not reveal semantic convergences. It seems that the discovered feature of phonetically consonant paired words can be explained only by drawing on the genetic differences of languages that are implicitly preserved to the present and only make themselves felt with special scientific analysis.

- Features of interaction in inter-ethnic marriage and inter-generational family
- Abstract:
- The article is devoted to studying the features of interaction in young families where the spouses profess Islam and Orthodoxy. Muslim and Orthodox families also participated in the comparative study. The Mann-Whitney U-test was used to assess differences in the indicators of these groups. The family sociogram (variants of a real family and an ideal family), the family environment scale, and the method «Analysis of family relationships» (a questionnaire for parents) by E.G. Eidemiller and V.V. Justickis, unstructured interview with the respondents were used as the research methods. It is established that family interaction in inter-confessional families is characterized by the preservation of the Patriarchal family hierarchy, relationships are maintained among members of the extended family, and an attitude towards preserving humanistic values is formed between the spouses. The spouses care for each other to a high level, and the partners have a strong sense of belonging to the family. Some violations in the styles of family education were revealed, namely, the presence of dominant hyperprotection, condoning hyperprotection, and moral responsibility. At the same time, condoning hyperprotection is more pronounced and more common in male fathers from interfaith families.

- Abstract:
- The article deals with the problem of maintaining and preserving the ethnic musical culture of the Mari people in the conditions of the diaspora. The purpose of the article is to determine the prospects for preserving the ethnic musical culture of members of the Mari diaspora in the framework of integration processes in the multicultural Moscow region. Methods. The article is based on the data obtained when conducting a sociolinguistic survey in the Mari diaspora of the Moscow region; the selective sampling include 100 respondents, all of them are natives of the Republic of Mari El or places of traditional compact settlement of the Mari ethnic group, currently living in Moscow or in the Moscow region. One of the aspects of the survey was to study the respondents’ language loyalty, which indirectly manifests itself in in the knowledge and observance of ethnic musical culture. In particular, the respondents were asked questions about the language or languages in which they are likely to sing or listen to songs, about the value and significance of Mari songs in their lives. Based on their answers, tables, reflecting the results, were drawn. Results. According to the results of the sociolinguistic survey in the Mari diaspora, a vast majority of the respondents (96%) listen to (and/or sing) songs in their ethnic language one way or another, under completely different circumstances and using a wide range of modern technologies and telecommunications. The representatives of the Mari Diaspora take an active part in various cultural and musical events, which are held not only within the framework of the ethnic Mari community in Moscow, but also on the private initiative of young Mari activists. The author concludes that the ethnic musical culture, which the members of the Diaspora maintain both independently and in groups, undoubtedly plays an important role in uniting the Moscow Mari people and attracting new members of the Mari Diaspora, it slows down assimilation processes and contributes to the preservation of their ethnic and cultural identity.

- Abstract:
- The article considers the etymology of the toponym Shigali. the spread of chuvash names of settlements as the chuvashes move from the lower reaches of the Volga to the Wild Field. Borrowed elements in the Chuvash language from Arabic, Mari languages are fixed. The identification of a number of historical data on the basis of archival sources allows us to consider the historical and etymological branch of the prevalence of the Shigali oikonym in different lexical variations and phonetic variants. Materials on toponymy of the Chuvash region from the point of view of different scientists are also considered. The key goal of the study, which is described in this article, is simple - to "read" the history of native land in the language of toponymy is very interesting. Everyone reads it as far as possible – who as a simple man, who as a scientific. To understand it correctly, a complex historical analysis and classification of toponyms is needed.
