Research base: Faculty of Higher Nursing Education, Pavlov St. Petersburg State Medical University. The program included questioning and testing of the students. The motivational test by F. Herzberg was used, and the test by E. Shein “Anchors of a career” (adapted by V.A. Chiker and V.E. Vinogradova). The general and differentiated by courses preferred motivational attitudes of students and their career orientations, as well as correlations between them, were determined. It was found that, in general, the leading motives are: financial motivation; responsibility; interest in the content of the work, although the ratio varies depending on the year of the students. There are practically no reliable significant correlations between motives. The main career orientations are stability and service. The severity of different orientations and the correlations between them differ among students of different year. The correlations between motives and orientations are rather weak.
